Dunes Day

Dunes Day is always the 3rd Saturday every January from 9 a.m. to noon – Volunteers meet for registration between 8:30 and 9 a.m. at Stahlman Park to rebuild, restore, and strengthen our dunes.

Before Dunes Day, SOBA members collect discarded Christmas trees every January in trucks that we rent, fuel, load, and unload. We organize and distribute the trees along the beach. On Dunes Day itself, we organize groups to stake down and tie the trees in rows in front of the dune line to assist in catching blowing sand to help their building process. SOBA requests volunteers for this annual event. This is great for students needing service hours. We have signed service forms to give them or we can sign their school form. For more information call (979) 864-1152 or email mikem@brazoria-county.net

Please donate your  Christmas trees at the end of Hwy 332 Surfside Beach Main entrance, before January 14th. If you miss the deadline, feel free to bring your tree with you to the beach on the 20th. Volunteers will receive lunch. For more information, contact the Parks Department at 979-864-1541.
